Fun Bible Facts...Burning Bush

Why is the burning bush important? That is where God first spoke to Moses and revealed his name: YHWH (Yahweh or Jehovah). The meaning is 'I am'.

In the 3rd chapter of Exodus, Moses was tending sheep on Mount Horeb. God appears to Moses in the form of a bush that is on fire and yet does not burn up. Moses went over to check it out. God explains to Moses he has a plan for him to save the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and lead them to the Promised Land of Canaan. Moses began giving excuses and God answered every objection. His excuses were:

1. I am not qualified - (“Who am I”. Ex 3:11)

2. Lack of Knowledge - (What shall I tell them if they ask ‘What is his name?’ Ex 3:13)

3. What if they don't listen to me? (Ex 4:1)

4. I am not good at public speaking (Ex 4:10)

5. I do not want to do it. "Please send someone else." (Ex 4:13)

God sent Moses his brother, Aaron, to help him. Moses told Aaron everything the Lord had sent him to say, and also about all the signs he had commanded him to perform. Many signs, wonders and miracles followed...
